"The Front Page of the Internet"

If you recognize the title, you, sir, are a true patron of the internet.

This is the tagline for reddit, a popular social network based on posts by community members in specific categories called subreddits, notated by "/r/" before its name. These subreddits range from the humor of /r/funny to the in-depth discussions of /r/LeagueofLegends to the random ideas of /r/showerthoughts. If you have an interest, there is a subreddit for it with an active community behind it.

Reddit is one of the best sources of news on the internet, giving headlines from numerous perspectives with surprising celerity. With controversial headlines always comes debate, though, and you can often find these debates in the comments (with the occasional humorous insight or irrelevant comment).

On of the advantages of reddit as a social media site is the ability to see a feed of posts from your list of subscribed subreddits to get posts most relevant to you or view the day's top posts from all subreddits in which you can explore topics that you aren't usually exposed to.

Reddit is one of, if not the best, social media site of the entire internet with its huge, (mostly) friendly community and numerous sub-communities that make up the fan base of numerous topics.

  1. As a frequent redditor myself, I absolutely agree with your points. For me, Reddit is by far the best social media site, simply because there is a community for everything. Remember that one show that got canceled after one season and you're the only one who ever thought about it? There's a subreddit for that. Like anti-humor? There's a subreddit for that. Enjoy watching seemingly innocent people turn into thugs right before your eyes? There's a subreddit for that too (/r/UnexpectedThugLife). Reddit is one of those few sites that can keep you entertained for hours on end, and one thing you forgot to mention is that the entire reddit community as a whole is actually quite kind, a trait lost among the keyboard warriors and up-and-coming MLG quickscopers of today.
